SKALE Announces the Levitation Protocol, a Web3 Gateway for Decentralized Zero Knowledge Proofs

The Levitation Protocol will integrate across the current SKALE App-Chain Architecture and will include the addition of a new “Layer 1 Megachain” Fortified by ZK Rollups.

SAN FRANCISCO, June 1, 2023 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ — SKALE, the leading Ethereum scaling blockchain with over 70 million on-chain transactions and over $1.2BN USD value in ETH gas fees saved in the last year announces the launch of the “Levitation Protocol,” a new, fully-decentralized ZK scaling solution.

The Levitation Protocol will enhance the SKALE ecosystem’s capabilities by enabling any operator of Zero Knowledge Proofs to offer a decentralized ZK solution to application developers via a SKALE Chain. This will give developers building on SKALE more optionality in how they choose to configure their applications on SKALE’s already robust app-chain network of 20+ EVM blockchains. Levitation will be supported by the launch of SKALE G (G for Ganymede, the largest moon in the solar system), which aims to be the world’s fastest and most scalable decentralized Layer 1 blockchain that will have L2 ZK hooks back to Ethereum.

“SKALE’s community of developers is incredibly involved in not only running the network but also shaping the network’s future, which was shown in the outpouring of contribution and community design of this initiative,” said Jack O’Holleran, CEO and co-founder of SKALE Labs. “The Levitation Protocol will take SKALE to the next level, offering even more options for developers and businesses to build and scale their decentralized applications. We’re excited to see the impact Levitation will have on the future of the blockchain industry.”

While ZK projects are scrambling to create decentralized app-chain networks, SKALE already has the world’s most robust and proven app-chain network with 20 EVM chains and over 70M transactions completed, making it natively capable of integrating the best-in-class ZK EVM solutions.

The Dartmouth Blockchain Group recently recognized SKALE as having the world’s fastest blockchain. SKALE has already established itself as one of the top 10 blockchains in terms of daily transaction volume, with over 86% month-over-month growth having serviced over 400,000 unique users in the last 6 months. With the Levitation Protocol, SKALE takes a monumental leap forward as a full-fledged blockchain scalability platform by offering app-specific chains, Layer 1, and Layer 2 options.

“SKALE has shown impressive transaction and network growth, due not only to the strength of their tech, but also their active community of developers,” said Chris Sharp, CTO of Blockdaemon, a major Validator of the SKALE Network. “By marrying SKALE’s instant finality to the added security of a novel layer 2 ZK approach, SKALE offers developers a platform for building new, decentralized applications. Not only will they be able to use app-specific chains, but also ZK roll-ups, and SKALE-G, an innovation that we are excited to see grow the blockchain ecosystem.”

The SKALE open-source developer community, also known as the “SKALE_Dev_DAO”, has proposed the high-level protocol addition via the SKALE developer forum and plans to reveal the source code in the coming months, with a public testnet expected later this year and a mainnet launch planned for Q4 2023.
