æLabs Announces Global Code Challenge with $50,000 in Prizes

The DAO-Fi Fusion Code Challenge, sponsored by æLabs, encourages developers from around the globe to help shape the future of DeFi and DAOs on the æternity blockchain

VADUZ, Liechtenstein, March 27, 2023 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ — æLabs, a group of contributors to the æternity blockchain, an open-source smart contract platform that combines the best of PoW and PoS to enhance security and scalability, announces a global hackathon worth $50,000 in prizes, with the grand prize of $20,000. The DAO-Fi Fusion Code Challenge, sponsored by æLabs, encourages developers from around the globe to help shape the future of decentralized finance and decentralized organizations.

DAOs and DeFi are experiencing rapid growth and interest. In fact, the industry has seen a 122% increase in monthly active developers since 2019. By participating in the DAO-Fi Fusion Code Challenge, developers can get an exciting opportunity to showcase their skills and creativity by building innovative and useful solutions using the functional Smart Contract language Sophia on the æternity blockchain.

As a Layer 1+ blockchain, æternity provides a strong foundation for developers to build on without the transaction processing and scaling limitations that plague most blockchain networks.

Yanislav Malahov, Founder of æternity, said “The mission of æternity is to empower the global population through a truly decentralized, open-source platform. This hackathon is a way for those passionate about contributing to this same mission to build, learn, and earn. æternity is where freedom meets innovation, and we’re looking forward to seeing what innovations emerge from what is shaping up to be a great hackathon.”

æternity was built from scratch in Erlang and ships its own unique Virtual Machine (FATE VM) that executes smart contracts with almost zero gas fees. The smart contracts are written in a novel and functional language called Sophia. Hackers looking to enter the coding challenge should ideally consider DeFi aspects (e.g. treasury management) and allow their smart contracts to enforce decisions (e.g. payouts) on-chain.

Developers from all over the globe are encouraged to contribute to this emerging space and help shape the future of decentralized finance and organizations. Registrations are open and the submission deadline is May 14, 2023 @ 12:00pm CEST.
